ENVI-met allows you to calculate thermal comfort indices from your simulation output files. While your standard simulation already writes PET and UTCI outputs up to a height of 10 grid cells for a generalized person, BIO-met allows you to individualize your demands and also calculate the PMV, SET and dynamic thermal comfort additionally.
On the left hand side you can select the simulation outputs you want to calculate the thermal comfort for (1). Remember to select the right project in the top right corner (2).
Once you’ve selected your output folder, the full simulation timeline will appear on the left-hand side. You can choose to display the entire time series or focus on specific parts by right-clicking. To analyze just a single timestep, simply double-click it. (1)
To reduce calculation times it makes sense to define the vertical range of analysis . You can choose to calculate the thermal comfort for the whole model area (not recommended due to high computational demand) to calculate up to a certain height or to calculate at a specific height only. (2)
Thermal comfort is dependent on the persons individual properties such as gender, age and clothing. To change these parameters for your study, you can choose between our person presets or model your own person. (3)
Finally you can choose a thermal comfort index and run the calculation. (4)
